We have had a few busy months – looking for the right organic field and for as many information as possible about flax and dye plants! Now it is time for action!
Today we have started sowing woad seeds – and we are running some germination tests.

We are hoping for a large crop – some will be used to produce ‘woad balls’ like the one shown here. This was one of the ways woad leaves were processed in the Middle Ages for storage. A larger portion will be processed on site to extract indigo dye! So watch this space!
As our seeds will be planted in certified organic soil we have selected Moorland Gold Organic Compost https://moorlandgold.co.uk
